CURTIS SCHMITT
SENIOR ASSOCIATE

Curtis has over fifteen years of experience working in design within the building development industry. After working for one of his professors during and following architecture school, he was employed by numerous design/build firms as a draftsman specializing in 3D CAD. During this time, he deepened his understanding of how the design process translated into the built environment.

Curtis’ interest in CAD/CAM led to the creation of 3D rendering and 3D printing departments within a high-end imaging studio catering to commercial clients. The departments worked with several brands, such as Chanel and Herman Miller/Maharam, on pre-visualization for interior fit-out and ground-up store designs. In partnership with an interior design firm, Curtis won a design competition hosted by Marriott Hotels & Resorts.

After managing the departments for over six years, he decided to freelance while motorcycle touring around North America, executing projects from the road on his laptop.

Curtis’ extensive experience as a designer gives him a sensitivity towards the vision crafted between a project’s design team and its ownership. His aim is to ensure that the final product is only modified in ways that add value and performance, and not in ways detract from the purity of the intended experience or overall aesthetic.
